Currently the government has no policies in place to subsidise these medications for Australians
In Australia, health insurance coverage for appointments specifically related to alternative medicine treatments can vary depending on the insurer and the specific policy. Generally, health insurance policies in Australia do not cover the cost of alternative medicines themselves because they may not be subsidised under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) for most conditions. However, some insurers may cover consultations with healthcare professionals who prescribe or oversee alternative medicine treatments.
Patients interested in using alternative medicines should check with their health insurance provider to understand what aspects of their treatment might be covered.
